Dr. Yang Hu, Associate Professor in Literacy Education, brings diverse experiences of teaching and staff development to her work as a teacher educator. At Hunter College, she teaches writing methods and literacy assessment courses in the Masters in Literacy Program. Her scholarship includes school realities and literacy learning of Asian immigrant students, book clubs, mentoring literacy teachers through video-mediated recursive cycles, and fostering teacher growth and learning in urban schools. Prior to coming to Hunter College, she worked as a staff developer with teachers and children of New York City schools through Chapter One Program in the South Bronx and the Teachers College Reading/Writing Project.
