Dr. Carmen S. Brown is an Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education at Hunter College. She has over 25 years experience in the field as a teacher, literacy coach, supervisor and professional development facilitator. Dr. Brown's area of expertise is emergent and early literacy development. At Hunter College, she teaches language and literacy courses for early childhood teacher candidates at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her areas of research include coaching and mentoring pre- and in-service teachers. She has been with the READ East Harlem project since December 2015, primarily working with kindergarten and first-grade teachers.
